The styling you provide to a look can make or break an outfit, and even though when we talk about styling we also refer to the hair, makeup and shoes, today we will focus in accessories. Accessories are a great way to add something interesting to a look and take your wardrobe to the next level, they can truly become a key part of an outfit and even become a bold statement.

There is a wide variety of items that can be cataloged as accessories but recently, hair accessories have become really popular. Currently headbands are all that rage after Prada inspired ones made its way into fast fashion retailers, but back in spring barrettes and hair clips were everywhere, they were made of acrylic, crystals and even pearls and currently you can still see them being worn on the streets and being sold at stores.

The thing here is that, as much as you love the way they look, I think that, as with everything you buy, you should really think beforehand why are you deciding to buy it. Are you truly going to use it or are you just buying because of the hype around it? Will this accessory add up to your wardrobe and everyday life or do you just want to belong and look fashionable? Because at the end of the day, why would you spend your money in something you will not use and end up throwing away?

I’m not here to tell you which are the reasons you should buy or not buy something, because just as it is with everything, that depends on perception and personal preference. There’s nothing wrong with liking or using something because you liked the way it looked on a friend or someone online, I’m just trying to invite you to start doing these questions and being more conscious in the way you consume products, especially accessories, because as they tend to be cheaper than clothing, we tend to overlook them.

Please let me know which accessories have been your go to lately and don’t forget to have fun when using them!
